Abstract. The Reflexotherapy has often been considered “with sufficiency” within the medical and relegated to “new age phenomenon”, and the edge of the folklore traditions of shamanism.
Fortunately, several authors (Bourdiol, Bossy, Nogier, Alimi …) have considered these therapeutic opportunities,  have studied and verified, and have described the neurophysiological bases and embryology, as well as the indications and limitations. Few authors, however, have carried out a synthesis and issued guidelines of global use in clinical practice.
The Holographic Reflexotherapy Ⓡ is the result of a synthesis of scientific work started by dr. Renee Jacques Bourdiol, where the knowledge of modern neurophysiology applied to reflexology led to the conception of the method neuroimaging.
The mechanisms of neurological function explain the real presence of skin areas used in reflexology: holograms repeated in several parts of the body that are representations of the whole man and of its specific functions.
The  skin maps, scientifically referred to as “somatotopie skin”, such as those that are most popular on the foot or on the ear, but also on other areas such as the hands, face, skull, are home to holograms specific for each particular neurological function (motor, emotional, autonomic …..).
Knowing the neurological mechanisms of human physiology allows us to perceive and look at the skin surface reflex points that are representation of that particular function in that particular organ, and in that context.
